Just shy of a month old, the new Apple MacBook Air officially has its biggest discount to date. Yes, it's now even cheaper than it was during Amazon's Big Spring Sale, which just wrapped up last week.As of April 6, both the 13-inch and 15-inch M5 MacBook Airs are $149.01 off their list prices of $1,099 and $1,299, bringing the starting prices down to just $949.99 or $1,149.99. That's $100 cheaper than both models were during the Spring Sale. Not to mention, both base models are already technically $100 cheaper than their predecessors, making this an even better value. Both base models feature 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.TBH, the M5 MacBook Air isn't a whole lot different than the M4 Air, but that's not a bad thing. Both laptops are incredibly powerful and competitively priced. Besides the M5 chip being a step up from the M4, they now start with more base storage, are configurable with up to 4TB (up from 2TB), and feature Apple's N1 wireless chip for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support. Otherwise, the specs are largely comparable to the previous generation. The M5 Air still packs a 60Hz Liquid Retina display, 12MP Center Stage webcam, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, and 18-hour battery life.If you already own an M4 Air, there's not a huge incentive here to upgrade. But if you're rocking an older MacBook, I highly recommend grabbing the M5 model in either size while it's $149 cheaper. This deal turns an already solid value laptop into a spectacular one, shrinking the gap between the Air and Apple's budget Neo laptop to just $350.

Their Town review: Katie Aselton and Mark Duplass create a glorious hangout movie for theater kids
Theater kids can get a bad wrap for being too much and generally annoying. But speaking as a theater kid, a lot of that energy comes from an urgent desire to be known — not just seen but truly known. Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton understand that yearning and channel that earnestness and openness into the teen drama Their Town. Pulling inspiration from Richard Linklater's Before trilogy, Duplass scripts a deceptively simple story about two high schoolers who connect one long night after play rehearsal. Aselton directs, weaving the story across a small Maine town, turning everyday locations into sacred spaces of sharing. And in the lead roles, this husband-and-wife team chose one established young actor, IT's Chosen Jacobs, and one newcomer, their daughter, Ora Duplass.Together, they create a hangout movie that is patient, poignant, and powerful. Their Town captures the frail and frightening freedom of youth. Beginning at play rehearsal after school, Their Town swiftly establishes Abby (Duplass) and Matt (Jacobs) through their positions on stage. She is the lead, opposite her moody boyfriend Tyler (William Atticus Parker). But when he abruptly bails on the production, Abby looks to the wings for a possible substitute, and spots shy Matt (Jacobs). There's just one problem; Matt signed up to do stage crew, not go on stage. With some fussy encouragement from their drama teacher, Mr. Elliot (Jeffery Self, nailing the small town determination of such an artist), the pair decide to get to know each other after rehearsal to see how things shake out. The first stop is Abby's house, where her mom and boyfriend are flabbergasted to see her arrive with Matt. A harsh mother-daughter squabble follows, propelling Abby to pull Matt anywhere else. That ends up being Matt's big, empty house, where his dads (Daveed Diggs and Leonardo Nam) will check in on him via video call. It's an intense thing to see a classmate's home for the first time. Both Matt and Abby are faced with a situation they didn't expect, leading to some awkward conversations about preconceived notions but also humane laughs. From here, they will wander about their town from a beloved taco truck to a locked-up playground, reclaiming old haunts with fresh eyes. Mashable 101 Fan Fave: Nominate your favorite creators todayWatching them wander, eat, flirt, and fumble, I was riveted, in part because I could see a reflection of my own youth in their journey. After play rehearsal, hanging out with the theater kids was where I finally found community. There, my nights were rich with possibilities and the feeling of the infinite. I made friends there that decades later still know me and still shape me. Watching Their Town felt like time-traveling back to my own youth, my own hometown, sitting on a forgotten swing set in a dark night, where the only sound was our shared laughter.Chosen Jacobs and Ora Duplass are magic together. Don't write off Ora Duplass as a nepo baby, lest you reveal yourself to be a fool. Though she only has a couple of shorts to her credit, it's easy to see why her parents entrusted her with the role of Abby. Ora has a natural presence on camera. Like her mother, she shines when she smiles, and she crackles when in conflict. But it's in scenes where Abby's pose of confidence falters that this ingenue reveals her depths. At 24, Jacobs has six years on 18-year-old Ora, and all of that (and more) working in movies and shows, including IT, Hawaii Five-O, Castle Rock, Darby and the Dead, and The Hunting Wives. Yet they prove perfect scene partners in Their Town. Their chemistry is natural and delicate. Abby and Matt don't pop onto screen as an inevitable coupling, but rather as two strangers with an undeniable connection. Her default mode is cheerful, a butterfly eager to please. He's more reserved, but not cold. For instance, when Abby chatters away in Spanish to the taco truck vendor, Jacobs' eyes reflect curiosity and nervousness, wondering what's being said and if it could be about him. As the night goes on, the bond between them grows through conversations about their lives, loves, and struggles. Duplass' script is too smart to fall into cliches. So even when discussing peer pressure to be perfect, anxiety, or suicidal ideation, there's an aching specificity and nuance to the dialogue. Through these two incredible young actors, it doesn't feel like a script, but like a real conversation, the kind shared across a dashboard on a starry night, or whispered across a phone line after bedtime. Aselton's cinematographer Sarah Whelden bolsters this sense of intimacy through a handheld camera that gently moves, reflecting the slow breath in and out of growing serenity — or, in other moments, panic. Deceptively simple framing gives her heroes space to breathe and test their boundaries. And in each moment, we are invited to be there with them. As the film finds its low point with some deeply high school theatrics, it'll wind back to resolution that embraces the magic of being a theater kid on a stage. Here's your chance to be seen. Will you take it? And moreover, will you give your partner that same gift? In the end, Their Town is a sublime hangout movie that brilliantly captures those nights that felt infinite, those conversations that broke our brains for the better, and those relationships that molded our souls. Aselton, who's previously helmed the racy sex romp The Freebie, the tense thriller Black Rock, and the zippy comedy Mack & Rita, completely changes gears here. Their Town is not mumblecore or a Linklater homage. It's a thoughtful teen drama that rejects the urge to talk down to young people, instead embracing their complexity and confusion. There's constant empathy for Abby and Matt, as the film follows them not doggedly, but in admiration for their bravery and growth in the face of so much possibility and fear. Their Town is a quietly brilliant coming-of-age drama you absolutely shouldn't miss. Their Town was reviewed out of the 2026 SXSW Film Festival. It does not currently have a release date.
NYT Pips hints, answers for April 6, 2026
Welcome to your guide to Pips, the latest game in the New York Times catalogue.Released in August 2025, the Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move onto the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level. How to play PipsIf you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity for how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.

Wordle today: Answer, hints for April 6, 2026
The conditions you have to meet are specific to the color-coded spaces. For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible – and common – for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space. Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips. Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number. If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.

NYT Strands hints, answers for April 6, 2026
Today's NYT Strands hints are easy if you never cross the line. Strands, the New York Times' elevated word-search game, requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made from linked letters — up, down, left, right, or diagonal, but words can also change direction, resulting in quirky shapes and patterns. Every single letter in the grid will be part of an answer. There's always a theme linking every solution, along with the "spangram," a special, word or phrase that sums up that day's theme, and spans the entire grid horizontally or vertically.

Where did Wordle come from?Originally created by engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner, Wordle rapidly spread to become an international phenomenon, with thousands of people around the globe playing every day. Claude subscribers will now have to pay extra to use OpenClaw
Claude users will now have to pay more to use third-party tools like the viral AI assistant OpenClaw, Anthropic announced. The news came via email from Anthropic to Claude subscription holders. It was posted on Hacker News and states that as of April 4 at 12 p.m. PT, subscribers will "no longer be able to use your Claude subscription limits for third-party harnesses [tools] including OpenClaw. You can still use them with your Claude account, but they will require extra usage, a pay-as-you-go option billed separately from your subscription."

Head of Claude Code, Boris Cherny, said the same on X on Friday, and mentioned these tools can also be used with an API key. He shared an explanation for the change: "We've been working hard to meet the increase in demand for Claude, and our subscriptions weren't built for the usage patterns of these third-party tools. Capacity is a resource we manage thoughtfully and we are prioritizing our customers using our products and API."In February, OpenClaw developer Peter Steinberger joined OpenAI after the tool became widely known online. On Friday, Steinberger posted on X that he and OpenClaw board member Dave Morin "tried to talk sense into Anthropic, best we managed was delaying this for a week."He continued, "Funny how timings match up, first they copy some popular features into their closed harness, then they lock out open source."Cherny responded to this (though not to Steinberger directly), stating that the Claude team is "big fans of open source," and that this is more about engineering constraints. "Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible with the most intelligent models, we are continuing to optimize that," he said.Cherny also added, however, that if users want to cancel subscriptions, Anthropic is giving full refunds. Disclosure: Ziff Davis, Mashable's parent company, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI in April 2025, alleging that it infringed Ziff Davis copyrights in training and operating its AI systems.

Netflix must refund customers for price hikes, Italian court rules
While Netflix prices seem to keep rising in the United States, the streaming giant may have to reverse that trend in Italy. On Friday, a Rome court ruled that Netflix's price increases over the last seven years were unlawful, and that the streamer must refund its Italian customers, Reuters reported. Netflix apparently violated Italy's Consumer Code by changing the subscription price without a valid reason. Specifically, the ruling states that Netflix breached this code in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2024, according to Euro News.

Each subscriber will be entitled to a reduction in their current subscription price and reimbursement of applicable past charges. Some customers could even get further compensation, Reuters reported.Netflix told Reuters it will appeal the decision, and "We take consumer rights very seriously and believe our terms have always complied with Italian laws and practice."The lawsuit was originally filed by consumer group Movimento Consumatori, or Consumer Movement. In a press release on Saturday, the group responded to Netflix's statement."If Netflix intends to put the rights of its subscribers and consumers before all other interests, it should respect the Rome Court ruling and provide refunds, thus saving itself from massive class-action and individual litigation that will last years, damaging its reputation and resulting trust," said Movimento Consumatori president Alessandro Mostaccio in a translated statement.According to Mostaccio, over 25,000 Italian Netflix consumers have contacted Movimento Consumatori about the price hikes.Movimento Consumatori's lawyers for the case, Paolo Fiorio and Corrado Pinna, stated, "It is surprising that Netflix defends its actions as compliant not only with the law but also with Italian market practices," in a translated statement. "In Europe and in Italy, market practices cannot derogate from the law, which, as the Court found, were violated by Netflix, which implemented unlawful price increases."
NYT Pips hints, answers for April 5, 2026

SNL Weekend Update goes after both Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem
Another week, another Saturday Night Live that isn't afraid to punch up at President Donald Trump over the Epstein files and whatever else happened in the last few days. This time, Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che aimed at now-former Attorney General Pam Bondi and how Trump reportedly fired her over the Epstein files, "because the only person Trump has ever trusted to handle the Epstein situation is a prison guard with the cameras off," Jost said. Cue groans from the audience.Jost didn't stop there; he joked that he actually understood Trump because he'd also be mad if someone "took a Sharpie and drew all over favorite memories," referring to the heavy redactions of the files.Of course, the anchors didn't hesitate to also bring up the scandal regarding former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem's husband and his photos wearing fake breasts as a part of a "bimbofication" fetish. Che mentioned that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth quoted an airman saying the only thing they need in Iran is "bigger bombs." "Got you covered," said Che. "How about Kristi Noem's husband?"
